Gwibber not working properly with Facebook
- by Joe Jr Yamut
While tweeting through Gwibber is working perfectly fine, sadly it is not the same for Facebook.
There have been a lot of problems with Gwibber when it came to Facebook. One of the things that I’ve personally experienced and read all over the blogosphere is adding a Facebook account. Sometimes it works. Other times it doesn’t.
On my first try about 2 weeks ago I gave up after not being able to see the “Add” button after filling in the details for my Facebook account. I restarted Gwibber many times hoping to fix the problem. That didn’t do it. The other day, I gave it a try again and “lo and behold!” it worked! Take note that I didn’t update Gwibber. I’m still using version 2.30.1.
Hurray! Immediately, I posted up something like this to my wall, “Finally got Facebook working on Gwibber! =D.”
But that was it.. .
Only minutes after my first post through Gwibber, it stopped working. Nothing I did would let me post anything. The good part is that it was still updating the feed although very late. Refreshing doesn’t help. Sometimes it wouldn’t update for hours. I think the longest it didn’t update the feed is 12 hours.
So it’s back to the browser again.
All these problems have been reported many times but no clear fix is out yet. I hope they get this fixed soon. This is such a major disappointment for an Ubuntu release that bragged about being “Social from the start” with a big Facebook icon right at their very own features page.
